AN APPEAL

We all are well acquainted with the complexities of modern-day living, which manifest in even more telling fashion in the case of our seniors who are now past their prime and need succour in some form or the other to live through their twilight years with the well-deserved respect that they have earned through their toils during better days. The underlying reasons for these issues, which manifest themselves in various forms in our society, can be traced mainly to the ills of modern-day life, like either inability or unwillingness of their children to provide support, destitution, loneliness etc.

We need to appreciate with earnestness that to expect of the government alone to address this issue, now plaguing our society will not be in all fairness. It is for this reason that now, more than ever before, is the time for society to step up to the plate and take on the mantle of saviour, if for nothing else, then to pay back to our seniors to whom we owe our present.

There are many organizations and institutions which are already engaged in such philanthropic works in many other parts of the country over the past several years. Taking a cue from this, a few acclaimed senior citizens of India, who have bowed out of their professional careers with great distinction, winning many accolades on the way, have taken it up on themselves to set up a Senior Citizens’ Home at Guwahati. This venture will surely provide the much-needed opportunity to the many amongst us who have the will and the desire to participate in such activities but have hitherto been unable to do so for want of avenues.    

Towards this noble initiative Mr Ajanta Kr Goswami and his family members have very graciously come forward to donate a plot of land for this proposed Senior Citizens’ Home at Guwahati.

We humbly appeal to and welcome with open arms all those who are interested to put their might behind this noble cause to come forward and join us.
